About me

I’m Louisa, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and owner of Hot Coffee Therapy. Prior to Hot Coffee Therapy, most of my career was spent working as a social worker in the medical field. I’ve been passionate about family well-being and particularly maternal mental health since my graduate school internship in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. My most recent role prior to private practice was in pediatric hospice and palliative care. I’m well versed in being a calm presence in tumultuous times.

Education

Masters in Social Work- University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, 2014

Bachelor of Arts in Human Service Studies- Elon University, 2008

I’m actively pursuing certification in Perinatal Mental Health through Postpartum Support International. I’m a bit of a continuing education nerd and love figuring out my next class or conference to ensure I have the best information to support you.

Outside of work

I spend most of my time with my family. My hobbies include gardening and planning our next adventure- be that just to the park or to a new country. While my practice is named after coffee and a nod to the nearly universal appeal of getting to enjoy coffee while it is still warm (especially for parents,) my own hot beverage of choice is actually black tea.
